A Live Version of Wee Wee Hours
Jan posted this raw, live version of "Wee Wee Hours" on facebook. Thanks! I'd never heard it and like it! (Interesting video, too-- like something out of a modern horror movie!)
This is proof that every CB show is the same and different. Compare this gut bucket solo to the version from France posted a month or so ago, or to the one he recorded in Michigan in 1963 after being released from prison. Always the same, and usually different, too.

Every Patch Has a Story!
An excerpt from Neil Strauss's book "Everyone Loves You When You're Dead."
CHUCK BERRY [While discussing how he gets on a Kubota mower and cuts the grass on his massive Berry Park Estate.]
Yessir, because it’s just there and I’m gonna keep the grass cut and all that. I’m a millionaire, but I cut the grass. And each time I cut it, it’s my grass (laughs and claps his hands). And that is satisfying. Hm-mm-mm.
STRAUSS: It’s interesting going with you because every patch of grass has a story and you know the stories.
BERRY: Oh yeah, every blade. It’s like a person. A blade is a blade: When it’s cut in half, it dies, for sure. But the half that isn’t cut springs back to life.
STRAUSS: Did you just make that up about the grass or is that a quote from something? Because I think it’s true about all the obstacles you’ve overcome.
BERRY: No, it came to my mind.

Live at The Pageant (And Blueberry Hill)
People have posted a lot of nice clips from Chuck Berry's show at The Pageant a few days ago. There was a snippet of blues that I heard once but can't find now. Too bad-- it was pretty. I don't know if it's the on stage sound system there, or the family atmosphere with both kids and grandkids on stage, but the place seems to do him good.

Got a Chance-- They Ought to Take It!

Who do you love?
You have to follow some instructions to get to The Woolies' version of Bo's classic, but it's worth it. These guys played on San Francisco Dues and backed Chuck Berry at hundreds of shows. And they had a hit record, courtesy of their friend Elias.
